Inventory Of Reed Valve assemblies and parts.

This is the total inventory with me of the Reed valves and associated parts.

4 complete assemblies. 5 bare reed blocks, 13 reed stoppers and 14 reed petals. I'll assemble the 5 bare blocks once the reed stoppers get new Zinc Plating. :)

Only two of the reed valve assemblies in the pic are finished (bottom left corner). The rest are yet to be restored.

Oil Pump

The much feared but most important Oil Pump of the RD is a key part to have in perfect condition. The one i have here is as close to perfection as it can get, apart from a new pump. :)

Reed Valves :)

The simple yet complex Reed Valves are very , very important to the RD. I have around 9 reed valve assemblies lying with me at present, so that'll help me find some good sets. I'll posts pics of all of them together later.

Here, one set i have cleaned and its reed stoppers polished. The reed stoppers of the others set will not be polished, but will be coated with yellow zinc.

Cylinder heads

The heads were full of grime and were sitting idle for a long time. Just washed it with diesel and gave it a quick shine. They look okay, but will need one-two coats of high heat black.

RD Indicators lot

We purchased this lot of indicators, 7 in total. Everything genuine and complete, except one red lens. And two more genuine Rajdoot indicators will be coming soon. So there will be 9 now ;)

Seat restoration - Work in progress

The genuine Yamaha seat was starting to show its age and

the seat pan was also starting to rust.

So, we took the seat apart to find a lot of rust . The seat pan was cleaned of all rust and then painted with red oxide primer. Also, the genuine seat trim was polished :)

Another eagerly awaited component has arrived , and will hopefully put all troubles of ignition away forever. It is the complete kit, including the wiring etc.

These two cranks, are simply beautiful. I took them out from their 'oil baths'( they remain safely submerged in oil all the time) today for a quick photosession.

Both cranks are totally original , never been split apart in their lives, and are good to go as it is. But i might never use them in the future RD build. Will keep them just like this, just to look at them. ;)

Had a go at cleaning the lower crankcase today. It has turned out real nice. All the bearing surfaces are nice and true. Have a look

This bit of grime needs a de-greaser which i presently don't have. Will do it in the coming week.

Operation Splitting Crankcases

Been wanting to split the spare RD bottom end that i bought a while ago and finally got round to doing it .

As expected the crank is not upto the mark, but more importantly the transmission is fine, and also the lower case is not butchered as well and has nice and true circlip grooves. Since i got this bottom end at a good price, so it has turned out to be a good deal overall.

Next step is to clean it inside out. :)

Cleaning up the carbs

The carbs have been lying idle for many years. And a lot of varnish was deposited inside them. Took a day to clean and removal of black paint from just one carb . About 10% work still remains, since i ran out of Carb Cleaner. :)

All the internals of the carb are packed in a small box. Thats why you see the insides of the carb empty.

A complete RD350 bottom end was up for grabs with a local person and i grabbed it up. It seems to be in a good condition. Rest i'll come to know when i split the cases. Just waiting to get a clutch boss holder to remove the clutch. After that opening up the cases is easy.

Barrels getting ready for Sand Blasting

Securely masked up the barrels so as to prevent the sand blasting doing any damage to the cylinder bore.

They'll be done in a few days.

Cleaning of the Barrels

The RD barrels after the cleaning of exhaust port and transfer ports firstly with 80 grit and then 400 grit Sandpaper,diesel and finally with carb cleaner.

Cylinder Base gasket was scraped off with 80,400 grit sandpaper and then with Mother,s Mag&Al polish to smoothen up the surface..Here,s the result

The Next step is to get the outside of the Barrels Sand-blasted and Painted with High heat black paint,with capable of withstanding upto 600 deg C.Plus polishing of the fins edges with sandpapers and polish.

These are all the parts that i have right now. The inventory still lacks a lot of critical spares, but they are on their way :)

The Very Rare Rajdoot decal with the original packing.

The rear fender is a straight US import. The ones available in India are too bashed up to even bother about using them. The headlight dome and lens is Rajdoot.

The chain cover you see here is also US import. A real solid part. The baffles are not OEM , but will do the job. The kick stand , yet again is a US import.

These are OEM Rajdoot clutch plates , pressure plate, Clutch bell. The carbs are the Mikuni VM28's. Genuine and the ones which originally came on the RD. They are in excellent shape, the ones found nowadays are mostly butchered.

The stator is genuine Rajdoot one. Although i don't plan to use it ,since i've already ordered the RDDreams RD350 CDI Kit but it's a pretty nice part to have anyway ;).

Also you'll notice there is a complete rebuild kit of the OEM kill switch found on the Rajdoot 350.

THIS is a beautiful standard crank. It has never been split apart. Still all original, including the bearings. All the tolerances are in-spec as per the Yamaha manual. It has run about 5000km.

An almost unused complete transmisson is on its way from US.

Also, coming along are cylinder heads, kick lever assembly,complete tachometer drive unit. AND , the RDD RD350 Digital CDI Kit.

Here are a few pics of a brilliant crank that i have. A similar NOS RD350 crank is already on its way to me :)

Here is a set of US Spec barrels on standard bore. They have only run 4000km's and have plenty of life left in them.

Various Rubber Parts of the RD , some genuine Rajdoot make , and some arent.

This here is the Rear wheel cush ( genuine rajdoot) although the packing isnt genuine.

Genuine RD 350 seat in near perfect condition. Everything Original.
A little repair will set it right!

This genuine tachometer is New and never used. Even the seals are intact.

This speedo is Used but in pretty good condition. Hopefully i'll find a new Pricol Speedo someday.
